Our Approach

Our Approach

Our specialist activity team develops both individual and small group programmes that are tailored to each child’s learning needs. The integrated programmes cover all aspects of development – sensory , motor, communication, conceptual, and social skills.

We help children:

  • Access play at their developmental level and then extend their variety of play
  • Use their hands and be able to communicate
  • Gain mobility skills
  • Become active learners
  • Reach for the stars!

Accessing our services

Families (whānau), children (tamariki) and young people (taiohi) with special needs are all welcome.

Initial visits and assessments are sponsored through charitable donations (eg: Fly Palmy) and are free to families.

The cost of continued services are also heavily subsidised by charitable donations.
This makes ongoing provision possible for all families. Families make what contributions they can manage.

Advocacy is available to support families with applications for personalised funding.

Joining Up

Following assessment, if families want the services Little Stars can offer, then beginning the journey is easy. We:

  • Start sessions in a timely manner with a first appointment being scheduled within two to four weeks
  • Endeavour to give times that can work with families and children’s own timetable
  • Set goals together
  • Introduce you to the team, including our helpful Administrator and Development Coordinator, Kate
